Alex Merritt

Alex Merritt is the founding partner of Merritt Law, a firm dedicated to providing expert legal representation to individuals in need. With nearly two decades of experience, Alex specializes in advocating for those who have suffered injuries or loss due to negligence or intentional wrongdoing, as well as individuals facing serious criminal charges. His focus is on delivering optimal outcomes, beginning from the initial consultation and continuing through to the resolution of the case.

Before establishing Merritt Law, Alex spent nine years at the DeWoskin Law Firm, where he honed his skills as both an associate attorney and partner. Prior to that, he served as a prosecutor in the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office, handling a wide array of felony cases, including homicides, armed robberies, and drug trafficking offenses.

Alex also worked as an associate attorney at the private law firm Jones & Walden, where he focused his practice on bankruptcy and debtor-creditor litigation.

Alex is an active member of the DeKalb Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.

Alex is actively engaged in legal education and community service. He volunteers annually as a faculty member at the Emory University School of Law Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques, where he teaches second-year law students the nuances of trying cases before juries. Alex has also volunteered as a coach for the Decatur High School mock trial team, and has volunteered as a judge at the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition held annually at the DeKalb County Courthouse.

Alex earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama and his juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law. He is married to his beautiful, intelligent college sweetheart. Alex and his wife are blessed to have one child and dozens of close family and friends.
